DELLA Honda in Plattsburgh wants to wish all of our customers a Happy Halloween! No matter if you choose to get spooky at a Halloween bash or are hanging with the kids trick or treat, we wish you a night full of happiness and haunts! Enjoy, and stay safe.

Halloween is the perfect time of year to explore some of the haunted happenings going on in New York. And with New York being one of those oldest states in the country, trust us – there are plenty! But don’t worry, if you don’t have a lot of time to head outside of Plattsburgh, NY; Burlington, VT; Potsdam, Lake Placid, and Malone, NY, we’ve compiled a list of the best local scary places to visit. So grab your New Honda from DELLA Honda in Plattsburgh and head out for this haunted road trip!

You won’t have to travel very far at all for our first stop. It’s SUNY Plattsburgh Macdonough Hall right here in Plattsburgh, NY! If you’re a local, you’re probably aware that this hall is very haunted. Residents of the hall have witnessed everything from toilets randomly flushing to radios, bathroom lights, and fire alarms mysteriously turning on. They’ve also claimed to have seen strange apparitions. All of these spooky events are apparently due to the fact that the building was built on marshland where a woman’s body and headstone was found.

Next up on our list is St. Albans Bay State Park in St. Albans, VT. If you’re lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it), you’ll catch a glimpse of the “phantom ship” that has been spotted in the St. Albans Bay. The ghost pirates who inhabit the ship call out to nearby fishermen, and the story goes that they are hunting the legendary Champ, the creature who is rumored to live in the bay.

We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the spooktacular Gold Brook Covered Bridge in Stowe, VT. It’s better known “Emily’s Bridge,” and for good reason. The ghost who resides there, Emily, supposedly hung herself after her fiance never showed up for their elopement. Some people believe she was run over by horses and died after being knocked to the rocky banks below. No matter who you believe, everyone can agree that there have been some strange noises including screams, scratches. Some have even seen Emily herself.

By now, you’ve probably worked up quite an appetite, so we recommend heading over to American Flatbread in Burlington, VT. This was previously Carbus Restaurant, most famously known for a former employee shooting himself in the basement – yikes! Employees are warned to proceed to the basement with caution, and many have been locked in the walk-in freezer, which slams shut with no explanation.

Save the best for last with this mix of horror and history at the Plattsburgh Airforce Base. There are a number of spooks here, including multiple ghost sightings (children, a Revolutionary War soldier who has been spotted marching back and forth, and a lady in white who haunts the woods nearby). If you’re brave enough, head over to the Old Gym, which was once used as a wartime morgue where visitors have heard pounding and screams. Finally, if you’re really brave, head down to the red basement, painted that color to cover up the blood.

Over the past six months, Honda has been providing viewers with an in-depth look at the Tim Mings’ restoration of America’s very first Honda through their online documentary, “Serial One.” The series follows Mings, a mechanic, as he meticulously restores a Honda N600 with the Vehicle Identification Number 1000001. Throughout the restoration process, Honda also took us back to explore the early years of Honda in the United States.

“Throughout the incredible journey of Honda’s Serial One to a complete restoration, fans have been able to witness firsthand how meticulous the process has been to bring the first N600 in America back to its original form,” said Alicia Jones, Honda social media manager. “Sharing the restoration process with car enthusiasts and Honda fans everywhere is what this program has been all about.”

The twelfth and final episode premiered last week, as Tim Mings revealed the finished N600 at the Japanese Classic Car Show. Watch it above to see the final result!

While the rest of the automotive world is racing toward autonomous vehicles, Honda is taking a different direction. Honda, who has always believed in “dynamic performance,” as seen most obviously in the new Honda Civic, wants humans to maintain a level of control over driving. “We surely believe in autonomous driving. It will come, definitely. But we believe, and we hope, that there will always remain a certain partition of driving by yourself,” said Civic head engineer, Mitsuru Kariya. Honda wants the joy of driving to be preserved, as in, when you want to drive, you should be able to.

As far as the future of environmentally friendly vehicles, unlike many automakers, Honda believes that hydrogen fuel cells are the future as opposed to electric. However, Kariya admits that electric vehicles will lead the way in the short term. “As a long term future, we still believe, as we have been communicating all the time, our long-term propulsion system is still the fuel cell. From an efficiency point of view, from pollution point of view, from a performance point of view, from habit of handling point of view, from a practicality point of view…you can just recharge in minutes. However, until that comes to be normal, and it’s still a long way, electrification is a very important aspect.”

This past Friday, October 8th, was National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day. The holiday, chosen because of the atomic weight of hydrogen (1.008), seeks to raise awareness about fuel cell and hydrogen technologies, which can help reduce emissions. Honda celebrated by announcing that its new five-passenger, hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Sedan will be launching before the end of the year in California, where a majority of the hydrogen stations are currently located.

“Honda believes that hydrogen can play a critical role in addressing global climate change and accelerating progress toward a more sustainable, ultra low-carbon mobility future,” said Steve Center, vice president of the Environmental Business Development Office at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “We are excited to deliver the all-new zero-emissions Clarity Fuel Cell, a spacious 5-passenger fuel cell sedan with the range and refueling time of a conventional car.  The Clarity can meet customer needs for performance, safety and advanced telematics, while addressing society’s environmental and energy concerns.”

If you’re interested in the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, you can visit http://automobiles.honda.com/clarity for more information. We will keep you updated on when and if the sedan will make its way to the east coast.
