Honda has just announced that they are now officially the new sponsor of the classic Disneyland Resort ride Autopia. As such, they will be providing the resort with the means to help them update the ride with a new look and a refresh to the current storyline. The Autopia attraction is one of the original attractions that was part of the park when it first opened back in 1955 and it includes a series of cars that attendees can drive along a winding path around the park. While Honda may have just signed on as an official sponsor they have already been part of this ride for some time since all of the vehicles in the attraction are powered by Honda engines. Honda is releasing a new video series called #HondaSerialOne, which will follow Honda mechanic, Tim Mings while he restores the very first Honda automobile in the United State, a 1967 Honda N600. Mings, who grew up restoring Honda vehicles with his father, is the only full-time Honda N600 mechanic in the world, having restored over 1,000 of them in his career. There were only 50 1967 Honda N600 vehicles built, and only three have survived. Mings purchased one immediately when he came across it, and owned it for several years before discovering it was Serial 1000001, the first Honda automobile in the U.S. After Tim restores this vehicle, it will be sent to the Honda Museum where Honda fans all over the world can see it and enjoy it. The Honda Division’s sales were up 14.9 percent from February 2015 after selling 106,212 vehicles last month and setting a new February record for the brand. Many Honda vehicle segments also had an impressive month. Honda truck set a February record of their own, totaling 48,495. Honda cars also sold an astounding 57,267 vehicles. The 2016 Honda Civic was the brand’s best-selling model during February, selling a record 27,707 vehicles, resulting in an increase of 31.7 percent. The Accord helped Honda’s success, up 19.3 percent after selling 25,785 vehicles. The CR-V set a February record with 25,250 vehicles, rising 13.2 percent.
